About me
Halito! My name is Audrey Brokeshoulder. I am a third-generation artist with the Absentee Shawnee, Hopi and Navajo heritage. My artwork is deeply inspired by my cultural background, traditions, and experiences that have shaped me. Through acrylic painting and ledger art, I explore storytelling, identity, history, and the connection between past and present.
Throughout my artistic journey, I have been honored with recognition in the SWAIA Juvenile Art Show, Eiteljorg Juvenile Art Show, Gallup Intertribal Ceremonial Juvenile Art, Selected Artist for the "Soul of Nations" organization, and Selected Cover Artist for 104th Gallup Intertribal Ceremonial.
As a third-generation artist, I hope to continue building upon the artistic legacy passed down to me while creating work that reflects culture, creativity and contemporary Indigenous experiences. Each piece I create is an opportunity to tell a story, honor where I come from, and share my perspective with others.
